ESTABLISHMENT

Turkish Construction Technology Platform (TCTP) is currently operated by a core-group of 4 institutions:
  • Turkish Ministry of Public Works and Settlement
  • Chamber of Architects of Turkey (CAT)
  • Middle East Technical University (METU) Department of Architecture
  • Building Information Centre
There is a supporting group of 13 institutions, that signed a memorandum for the establishment of the platform:

Turkish Ministry of Public Works and Settlement, Chamber of Architects of Turkey-CAT, Middle East Technical University-METU Department of Architecture, Building Information Centre, Turkish Standards Institution-TSE, Union of Building Supervision Firms, Turkish Roofers Association-CATIDER, Polystyrene Producers Association, Brick Manufacturers Association Turkey-TUKDER, Association of Panel Radiator Producers, Association of Paint Industry-BOSAD, Turkish Constructional Steelwork Association, Bims Manufacturers Association.

The structure of the TCTP is not yet fully established, but the platform initiative is fully operational. The coordinator function is currently undertaken by the Chamber of Architects of Turkey. The Board and Secretariat will be named after the necessary official procedures that will be agreed on in the future by the core-group and supporting members. The Secretariat of the Platform is in Ankara.

1st MEETING
Construction Technology Platform Workshop
13 October 2006, Chamber of Architects of Turkey, Ankara
Aim: Briefing the Turkish construction sector representatives about the European Construction Technology Platform (ECTP) and national platforms.

The workshop was hosted by the Chamber of Architects of Turkey and offered by the EU-supported ENABLE project which aimed to develop the ECTP structure by the spread of national platforms.

Participants were mainly from public authorities and institutions such as Ministry of Public Improvement and Settlement and Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey; universities such as Middle East Technical University, Istanbul technical University and Yıldız Technical University; institutions working for establishing relations between building industry producers and users such as the Building Information Centre; professional organizations such as the Association of Turkish Consulting Engineers and Architects and Chamber of Civil Engineers of Turkey; unions of building material producers such as Association of Sound, Water and Fire Insulators (IZODER) and Association of Turkish Building Material Producers (IMSAD); representative of construction industrialists that is the Turkish Employers’ Association of Construction Industries (INTES).

The workshop covered presentations on the structure and activities of the European platform; funding opportunities in the EU 7th Framework Programme for the construction sector and structures and actual situations of the other established national platforms. The presentations were followed by an evaluation of the Turkish case and possibilities for the establishment of a national platform.

2nd MEETING
Turkish Construction Technology Platform

Aim: Briefing of partners about the ongoing process and signing of a memorandum for the establishment of a Turkish platform.

The memorandum of understanding for the establishment of the platform is signed by the Turkish Ministry of Public Works and Settlement, Chamber of Architects of Turkey-CAT, Middle East Technical University-METU Department of Architecture, Building Information Centre, Turkish Standards Institution-TSE, Union of Building Supervision Firms, Turkish Roofers Association-CATIDER, Polystyrene Producers Association, Brick Manufacturers Association Turkey-TUKDER, Association of Panel Radiator Producers, Association of Paint Industry-BOSAD, Turkish Constructional Steelwork Association, Bims Manufacturers Association.

Following this meeting, the Chamber of Architects of Turkey participated in the ECTP Conference that was held in Versailles in November 2006 on behalf of the Turkish platform initiative and a detailed report about the conference sessions and events was prepared and disseminated to relevant parties.

3rd MEETING
Construction Technology Platform Conference
1 June 2007, Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey, Ankara

Aim: Presenting the activities of the core group for the platform initiative until today in order to gather the parties that signed the memorandum and to invite other relevant partners that are interested in taking part in the platform.

The TCTP Conference aims to gather especially the building industry representatives such as building materials producers and contracting firms, as well as other various private and public institutions and organizations related to the construction sector, to underline the significance of the platform, its aims and vision.
